You have two full days of touring including a visit to the Healesville
Sanctuary, where you can wander through the beautiful bushland and find yourself
close to Australia's amazing wildlife. Over the two days you will visit a combination of small and large wineries including Domaine Chandon where you will be treated to a glass of sparkling wine and
tasters platter. Your two days of touring include two different yet equally
delicious lunches. One luncheon will be at De Bortoli Winery where you will enjoy a
2 course meal and a glass of wine and the other will be at Fergusson's of Yarra Glen. Here you will
sample the talents of master chief Louise Fergusson and her menu of many choices. Other wineries that you may visit include Yarra Ridge, St Huberts, Coldstream Hills, Oakridge Estate and Yering Farm. On day two you can have a sleep in, enjoy a leisurely breakfast or take a walk before
you are picked up mid morning to begin your second day of
touring. At the end of the afternoon on the second day, you will
be taken back to your hotel in central Melbourne. Departs Melbourne Tuesday to Friday at 9.00 am
and returns 5.30 pm on second day (on request, subject to availability) This small group (2-10 passengers) two day tour combines the best of two different winery regions, the Yarra Valley and Mt Macedon, with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The overnight stay is in a comfortable Bed and Breakfast in the Mt Macedon area. Dinner is included in the price, with a complimentary bottle of wine. Day l (LD) You will be collected from your hotel in the centre of Melbourne and driven to the beautiful Yarra Valley (roughly an hour, depending upon the traffic). Here discover the beauty of this premier grape growing region. You will tour the beautiful Yarra Valley. This glorious valley, surrounded by rolling hills and nurtured by the Yarra River, produces a remarkable array of exemplary cool-climate wines and regional produce. Amid undulating panoramas of vineyards and fertile farmland reside 55 cellar doors at some of the world’s finest wineries alongside some brilliant family-owned and boutique wineries awaiting your discovery. You will be taken to a selection of some of the finest of these for wine tastings, including the luxurious estate of Domaine Chandon, where you will enjoy a full flute of sparkling while relaxing and overlooking the vines. A sumptuous lunch is served for you at one of these wineries and includes a glass of wine and tea or coffee. At the end of this day, you will travel on to the Macedon Ranges where your accommodation in a specially selected 4-star B&B will feature the hospitality and charms of rural Victoria. | After breakfast, visit the region where the concept of pure indulgence was born. Macedon is rich with boutique wineries where the cellar door is often hidden amongst the vines. To name but a few of these…. Gisborne Peak Winery, Cleveland Winery, Cope-Williams, Hanging Rock Winery, Glen Erin Vineyard Retreat or Knight Granite Hills. Morning tea can be enjoyed at places like the Mysterious Hanging Rock (pictured below) where a visit to the discovery centre may be possible, Memorial Cross with it’s view of Melbourne and the Bay, or one of Mount Macedon’s renowned hill station gardens. Rather
than self-driving around wineries and denying the driver the
pleasure of swallowing at the tastings you may like to opt for at least one escorted tour.
The three tours below are for small groups, sometimes for as few as two
people, and depart from and end in Melbourne,
at your hotel. The Yarra Valley is very accessible from Melbourne and, in
addition to a wide choice of wineries, has one of the best
private hotels in Australia, Chateau Yering. Equally accessible
is the less well known, beautiful Mt
Macedon area included in our third tour. Mt Macedon has many
newer wineries and of course the famous Hanging Rock.
