MORE DETAILS about Wilderness in Victoria

Victoria is not immediately associated with Wilderness in many travellers' minds and yet it does contain huge areas of extremely wild and remote country, much of which can be accessed by means of self drive itineraries, if desired.  The Grampians (Halls Gap), The High Country (Mt Buffalo and Mt Beauty), The Wilderness Coast (Orbost) and The Desert Wilderness (500 km north west of Melbourne) all provide true Wilderness experiences.  Additionally the Great Ocean Road, the legendary drive from Melbourne to Adelaide, is one of the world's great road journeys.   Another little gem is Walhalla and the surrounding Victorian Alps.
