MORE DETAILS about Wilderness and Outback in the Red Centre

Alice Springs is at the heart of the Red Centre and lies 450 km north east of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, the centre piece of which is Uluru, previously known as Ayers Rock.  Within this vast park are many Aboriginal sacred sites, spectacular scenery and rock formations.  Short and extended tours leave from Alice Springs - within our 'Self Drive' section we have a Route which takes in Glen Helen Gorge (pictured) en route to Uluru.  There is a lot to see around Alice Springs and it is well worth spending several days here to take advantage of some of the day and extended tours on offer.  At Uluru the accommodation is all in a purpose built resort area about 12 kms from the Rock, on the edge of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.  Visitors can choose from camping or safari style accommodation, budget hotels or luxury resorts.
