Departs: Daily at 8.30 am from central Launceston hotels with a minimum of two
persons Returns: Around 5.00 pm
You will be collected from your hotel in Launceston and will then travel
to Cradle Mountain, stopping for morning tea in Sheffield, a quaint little country town
with fascinating murals depicting Tasmania’s harsh and rugged
history.After morning tea, continue on past Mt Roland to Cradle Mountain National Park, an alpine wilderness. Walk through stands of ancient pencil pines and in season there are wild flowers. Visit the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre with opportunities for short wilderness walks if you wish. Perhaps take a stroll around Dove Lake at the foot of magnificent Cradle Mountain. Lunch will be served at the Cradle Mt Wilderness Village. You will have excellent photos opportunities and a visit to Gustav Weindorfer's restored cabin. Gustav was a naturalist and a far sighted pioneer who built a forest home here in 1911and is regarded as the father of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Return to Launceston via Devils Gullet, Deloraine or Liffey Falls. |
