For the ultimate Flinders experience, and if time is of the essence, there is nothing like flying.  The scenery is awe inspiring from the air.  The Flinders Ranges are spectacular in their beauty and ancient history and they provide one of the richest habitats for Australia’s native animals.  There are few experiences that can compare with the rugged gorges and ridgetops forming a backdrop for the myriad of kangaroos, wallabies and emus that live here.  Remote, rugged, real Australia – you won’t get better than this top-of-the-range tour, including spectacular Wilpena Pound area and its majestic gorges.

Explore the Flinders Ranges in a day by plane
Departs  Flight departs daily from Adelaide at 8.30 am upon request except Good Friday and Christmas Day
Returns  Adelaide 5.30 pm
You will be collected from your Adelaide hotel and transferred to the general aviation terminal and will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the day.

Wedge Tailed Eagle © SATC Fly to the Hawker airstrip, right in the heart of the Flinders and embark on  a 4WD tour of the Wilpena Pound region.  Drive through the picturesque tree lined Bunyeroo Gorge and then marvel at the changing colours as you travel through the ‘corridor in time’ at Brachina Gorge.  You will be personally guided by an expert on the region, through the habitats of emus, kangaroos and reptiles where you could also spot the rare and beautiful yellow footed rock wallabies.  See the earliest living animal fossils (630 million years old) in the world.  Many species of birds also inhabit this region, ranging from brightly coloured ringed neck parrots through to the magnificent wedge tailed eagle, Australia’s largest bird of prey.  

Enjoy lunch at the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna, a historic Outback pub situated near the original Old Ghan Railway Line.  After lunch, you will continue the tour through the Moralana Scenic Drive.  From here you will have amazing views of the southern side of Wilpena Pound on your left and unforgettable views of the Elder Range on your right. This will take you back to the Hawker airstrip for your flight back to Adelaide. 
This tour is an easy and relaxing way to experience the very best of the Flinders Ranges in a day. (L)
