The great wilderness region of the Kimberley, stretches between two main towns - the beautiful pearling centre of Broome on the west coast and Kununurra to the east.   The area is a treasure trove of stunning contrasts and natural beauty, including the beehive-shaped rock formations of the Bungle Bungle Massif in Purnululu National Park.  Wildlife abounds and there is an evocative array of ancient Aboriginal art and cultural sites.    It is possible to visit some of these unique natural attractions on short, or not so short, excursions from the two main centres.
 
 DAY TOURS from BROOME
Cape Leveque and Aboriginal Culture
Full day      Departs Broome Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1 April to 30 November '08.
Travel to the Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community, home of the famous pearl shell church built by the Pallotine Monks in 1917, for morning tea.  Then on to beautiful Cape Leveque for lunch and leisure to enjoy the beaches and spectacular coastline before visiting the Lombadina Aboriginal Community.  Here an indigenous guide will take you on a tour of the community and its surroundings and give you a personal insight into the community's history.  Return to Broome at about 6.30 pm.

Buccaneer Archipelago
Half day: 4.5 hrs (7.30-12.00pm)or (1.00pm – 5.30pm). Min: 2 Max: 5 per plane. Departs Broome: Daily Tue/Thu/Sat .
This tour encompasses the best of the West Kimberley coast including the myriad of islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Fly over the Dampier Peninsula, King Sound, Horizontal Waterfalls, Talbot Bay, pearl farms, Cockatoo and Koolan Islands, One Arm Point Aboriginal Community and Cape Leveque (pictured). After morning/afternoon tea and a swim at Cape Leveque it is back on board for your unforgettable flight along the ever changing coastline to Broome.

Kimberley Explorer

Full day: approx. 10 hours. Min: 2 Max: 5 per plane. Departs Broome: Wed and Fri (May-Nov).  
Fly across Kimberley cattle country to Fitzroy Crossing.  On arrival you are escorted on a one hour boat cruise at Geikie Gorge (pictured), with a chance to view fresh water crocodiles.  Following the cruise you'll be taken on a tour of Fitzroy Crossing. `As you leave Fitzroy Crossing you fly over Oscar Ranges to the Napier Range where you circle over Windjana Gorge which has been eroded by the Lennard River.  For lunch, land at Mt Hart Homestead and learn the tales of the region from your host Taffy Abbotts. After lunch, cross from the rugged inland Kimberley to the islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago and Horizontal Waterfalls. The last stop for the day is Cape Leveque for afternoon tea, and then back to Broome for sunset.  Season may commence earlier than May, so please enquire.

Spend the night at Fitzroy River Lodge (standard motel room).  On Day 2 Geikie Gorge awaits you - cruise and walk Geikie Gorge with the Aboriginal trustees of the region. DAY TOURS from KUNUNURRA
Ord River
Approx. 6 hours afternoon tour (lunch not included). Travel by coach to Lake Argyle and return by boat. Min: 2 persons, Max: 49. Departs Kununurra: 11.30am May–Sep; on demand Oct–Apr. 
After collection from your hotel, travel by road to Lake Argyle. Here you will have the opportunity to view the Lake from one of the many high vantage points and visit the historic Durack Homestead. Return to Kununurra along the extensive Ord River system exploring the numerous tributaries and wildlife in the area.   Truly Ref 580
Bungle Bungle Deluxe
Full day.   Min: 2 persons   Departs Kununurra daily April-November:  9.00am April-September;  6.00 am October/November  
This tour includes a 2 hour flight to and from the remote Bungle Bungle region  Upon arrival, you will be met and taken on a 3 hour 4WD and walking tour of Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge.  The walking is classified as medium and is suitable for all ages.  Lunch will be at the gorge (own expense) followed by a 30 minute helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle ranges. A total Bungle Bungle experience! 
Walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen are all musts.

EXTENDED TOUR from KUNUNURRA
Mitchell Plateau Overnighter - 1 night/2days
Departs Kununurra   April to October - Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, with a minim of 2 passengers
A one day, one night tour to Mitchell Falls and the fascinating Mitchell Plateau. This tour departs from Kununurra by light aircraft and your scenic flight will take a spectacular track this morning passing over El Questro Station, Whyndam, the Berkley River Catchment area, Drysdale River National Park then on to Mitchell Plateau itself, landing at approximately 7.30am. Arriving at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip you are greeted by your guide and taken to a Safari Camp for breakfast. Then depart by 4WD vehicle to the Mitchell Falls, where you will take a guided tour of not only the falls, but also the many Aboriginal art sites that are located in the area. After lunch at the falls and a refreshing swim, passengers have the option of either walking out of the falls, or taking one of the spectacular helicopter flights that are available. Overnight accommodation is at Ungolan Safari Camp adjacent to the Kandiwal Aboriginal Community. The following morning you will embark on an 8.00am scenic flight to Kununurra, arriving approximately 9.30am
