Uluru (Ayers Rock) is the centrepiece of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 450 km south west of Alice Springs. Within this vast park are many Aboriginal sacred sites, spectacular scenery and rock formations. 50 km away from Uluru is Kata Tjuta itself (Mt Olga), an area of immense rock domes and breathtaking gorges. Qantas fly into Uluru (Ayers Rock) and The Ghan, the legendary rail service, has twice weekly services into Alice Springs from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide - see our 'Rail' section. SPECIAL NOTE: PURCHASE OF NATIONAL PARK ENTRY TICKET
The fee is A$25 per adult. You only have to pay this fee once when purchasing 2 or more Day Tours in this national park, as entry is valid for 3 consecutive days. It is an additional compulsory government charge at time of booking and is subject to change without notice. Children 15 years and under are not required to pay the entry fee. You must carry your ticket with you every time you enter the National Park or you will be required to purchase another ticket.

Sunrise at Uluru Tour

Departs: Daily 90 minutes prior to sunrise from Ayers Rock Resort
Returns: 10.00am - 10.30am to Ayers Rock Resort

Travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru nyakunytjaku, to see the Red Centre set alight by the first rays of the sun. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits as the colours of Uluru gradually change as the sun rises on the horizon. Tour the base of Uluru, including a guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the flora, fauna and Aboriginal history from your Driver/Guide. Continue around the base of Uluru by coach and see various sacred areas. Visit the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre where there is time to learn about Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law) or purchase some locally made Aboriginal art.  The adult price includes a National Park Entry Fee.

Valley of the Winds Walk, Kata Tjuta (Olgas) Sunset

Departs: Daily 2.00pm (Apr - Oct) and 3.00pm (Nov - Mar) from Ayers Rock Resort
Returns: 40 approximately after sunset to Ayers Rock Resort

Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your Driver Guide will explain the geological history of these giant domes. Your guide will then escort you on a 2-3 hour walk in the valley between the massive red conglomerate rock. The walking path is rocky and requires a good level of fitness. Marvel at the unique flora and fauna that has survived in this harsh environment. When you reach the Valley of the Winds Lookout, take some time to gaze out over the central valley of Kata Tjuta. Then take in a magnificent outback sunset at Kata Tjuta while enjoying a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.

Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and Uluru Sunset Tour

Departs: Daily 2.30pm (Mar - Oct) and 3.30pm (Nov - Feb) from Ayers Rock Resort
Returns: 20 minutes approximately after sunset to Ayers Rock Resort

Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta . On the way, stop at a lookout for a panoramic view of the southern side of Kata Tjuta. Continue on before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. In the late afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine.
The adult price includes a National Park Entry Fee.

'Sounds of Silence' Dinner in the Desert
An evening of dining under the sparkling outback sky.  Your journey begins on a lone sand dune located between Uluru and Kata Tjuta. A path takes you to an uninterrupted, three hundred and sixty degree view of this vast landscape. In front of you is the fabled Uluru; behind you are the domes of Kata Tjuta and, possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here you enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapés.  As the sun sets, you feast on a BBQ buffet of authentic Australian delicacies, bush salads and classic desserts, complemented by Australian wines. Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing, as our startalker takes you on a tour of the spectacular southern night sky. As you wind down after dinner, you are offered a choice of tea, coffee or port.

Day trip to Kings Canyon from Uluru
Departs: Daily 4.00am (Oct - Mar) and 5.00am (Apr - Sep) from Ayers Rock Resort
Returns: 4.30pm (Oct - Mar) and 5.30pm approximately (Apr - Sep) to Ayers Rock Resort

Drive through sand hill country towards Kings Canyon, stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (own expense). Continue on to Watarrka National Park where you can make the rocky climb with your Guide to the rim of Kings Canyon to be rewarded with marvellous views. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness. Or you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier walk. After lunch (own expense), you make your way back to Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort).  NOTE: There is an option to travel onto to Alice Springs rather than return to Ayers Rock Resort
