This Kakadu camping safari, departing from and returning to Darwin, is designed for those wanting a comfortable but adventurous small group tour (max 16 people).  You sleep in tented safari accommodation with proper beds, linen, towels, fans and lighting.  The toilet and shower facilities are shared and park entry fees are extra.  
If you'd still prefer to sleep indoors, standard grade motel accommodation with en suite is also available.
Add an extra day exploring Katherine Gorge to make this tour a really exciting, great value 4 day experience.

Itinerary: 2 night/3 day - Kakadu 'Safari in Style'

Winter Season  (June-November)
Departs: Darwin daily  at 7.00 am

Day 1
  Darwin to Mary River
Leave Darwin and see the falls of Litchfield National Park before arriving at the Mary River Wetlands.  This afternoon look for crocodiles and other wildlife on a private river cruise.  Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge for your overnight safari accommodation and enjoy an Aboriginal Corroboree, learning about the local culture and way of life. Day 2   Mary River to Kakadu
Sunset, Ubirr, Kakadu © Tourism Northern Territory Call in at Mamukala Wetlands then head to the spectacular Jim Jim Falls to take a walk to the base of the falls, before continuing on to Twin Falls.  Here you join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall where you can relax on the sandy bank.  Drive on to Kakadu for dinner and your overnight safari accommodation in Kakadu National Park. Your first stop today is Ubirr, where you discover ancient Aboriginal rock art.  Continue your journey to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where you do some hiking and enjoy a refreshing dip in the plunge pools.  You then return to Darwin, enjoying impressive scenery along the way. (BL)

Day 1
Litchfield National Park - Fogg Dam Nature Reserve - Aboriginal Corroborree. Overnight safari accommodation at Point Stuart. (LD)
Day 2
Wildlife Cruise - Ubirr - Bowali Visitor Centre - Gubara Springs walk. Overnight safari accommodation in Kakadu NP. (BLD)
Day 3
Nourlangie Rock - Cathedral Termite Mounds - Boulder Creek - Motor Car Falls - return to Darwin. (BL)

Itinerary: 3 night/4 day - Kakadu 'Safari in Style' plus day at Katherine Gorge
Departs Darwin Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between November and March
Itinerary details are the same as the 2 night/3 day Safari in Style above with the addition of a full day bus tour to Katherine Gorge. At the end of Day 3 you will return to your hotel accommodation in Darwin (budget standard motel with en suite).  Dinner tonight and breakfast and lunch tomorow are at your own expense. 
Day 4  Darwin to Nitmiluk National Park and return to Darwin
Travel to Nitmiluk National Park where you will experience:

~ Adelaide River  
~ Edith Falls  
~ Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge  
~ 2 hour gorge cruise (seasonal) 
~ Katherine town tour 
~ Pine Creek 

Return to Darwin at approximately 8pm where your tour ends.  This 3 night tour is offered as an accommodated option only in a standard grade motel with en suite.
NOTE:  The itinerary may vary due to seasonal conditions and national Park and traditional owner requirements.  An additional fee may be incurred to cover the cost of the Twin Falls boat transfer (approx A$10) which will be set by Kakadu National Park.
  
What to Bring 
Sturdy walking shoes (ankle high), swimming gear, hat and sunscreen, toiletries, warm clothing in winter, water bottle, torch, insect repellent, camera and film

If even deluxe camping does not appeal, you can upgrade to air conditioned motel rooms with private facilities, at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge and Kakadu Lodge.
