Departs Every
Tuesday all year round with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 passengers
DAY 1
The journey starts in tropical Darwin, where you are picked up
from your hotel at around 0700, in fully-equipped 4WD vehicles.
Travel to
Fogg Dam to view the wetlands of the Adelaide River before embarking for
the bird hides of Mamukala Billabong in Kakadu National Park. After a
picnic lunch you travel to Nourlangie to view some of Kakadu's spectacular
rock art. Leave
spectacular Kakadu as you cross the East Alligator River and enter
aboriginal owned Arnhemland. |
 |
With special permission from the Traditional
Owners. Head into remote Arnhemland. Visit Oenpelli for an
opportunity to buy art direct from the Traditional Owners, particularly the X-ray style of bark painting
that originated from this locality.
Two hours of driving through a fairyland of sandstone sculptures,
wetlands, and savanna sees the arrival on sunset at Mt Borradaile exclusive
tented safari camp, run by Max and Philippa Davidson. LD
DAY 2
Today, wander and explore the restricted traditional art of the world
renowned Mt Borradaile area. This is a rare and privileged experience. You have the opportunity to ramble through a maze of
catacomb-like caves thickly painted with Aboriginal art, and discover
traditional and contact phase artifacts tucked away in crevices. At
sunset you take a private boat cruise through the nationally significant
wetlands of Arnhemland's Cooper Creek. Perhaps you can photograph your
first crocodile or watch brolgas dance. In one of the most prolific places
for wildlife in Australia, the boat glides amongst masses of fragrant
water lillies
and flocks of waterbirds while you sip wine and enjoy an hors
d'oeuvre.
