DAY WALKS at ULURU (Ayers Rock)
Scroll down to Price Panel ...
Uluru is a sacred religious symbol to the local Anangu people and a cultural icon to modern day Aboriginals throughout Australia.  Truly Australia recommends that rather than climbing Uluru, something which many now consider insensitive, active travellers should instead consider a sunrise or sunset walk around the Rock base escorted by  an Anangu guide.

Uluru Early Morning Walk (Small Group)

Departs most mornings before sunrise.
Anangu elder with visitors © Anangu peopleThis is a most comprehensive tour that provides an opportunity to best understand the natural and cultural significance of Uluru. The tour commences prior to sunrise and you will see the most grand and atmospheric places of Uluru. During this 9.4km walk, guides will introduce you to the geology of Uluru and describe how plants and wildlife have adapted and survived in such a forbidding environment. But most fascinating is the relationship of the Anangu people to Uluru. This place was shelter, provided water and is a tangible link with their creation ancestors. As you walk around the base you will hear and see the creation time stories of these ancient people unfold and see where they lived and performed their ceremonies. Here, the beliefs of the people are embodied in one of the great natural features of this world. From a distance Uluru is spectacular; from close up it is powerful and deeply moving.
Includes
~  5 hour guided walking tour around the base of Uluru. A reasonable level of fitness is required
~  Sunrise and picnic breakfast included

Kuniya Sunset Gentle Walk Tour

Aboriginal guide with rock art © Anangu peopleDeparts Daily at 2.30pm (Apr-Sep) or 3.30pm (Oct-Mar) and returns 20 minutes after sunset.  Walking enthusiasts should note that this is not a trek, but an easy ramble based around a 1 km walking track which is wheelchair accessible.
After hotel pick-ups, participants have free time in the Uluru Cultural Centre before meeting their Aboriginal Guide for a visit to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole, whose life-giving waters have been drunk by generations of Aboriginal people. Here the important creation story of Kuniya (Python Woman). Guests visit caves at the base of Uluru where their guide's ancestors left paintings in time-worn ochres.  Discover local bush foods and hear tales of bush survival, as grass seed flour is prepared.   Tour includes an introduction to Aboriginal law and visits to the Uluru Cultural Centre and the Maruka Art Centre.  Finally there is time to watch the sunset over Uluru.
