8 days / 7 nights South East Lighthouses Walk Itinerary Guided

Truly Ref. 452
The walks along this section of Australian coast are stunning - beautiful forests, serene lakes, airy lookouts, clean sandy beaches and stretches of very rugged cliffs.  With two guides you will be offered easier and harder walk options - stretch yourself on a 20km walk or relax on a short stroll and soak up the atmosphere.
Abundant wildlife - you will see tiny fairy penguins, numerous birds and, with a bit of luck, migrating whales and Australian fur seals  waddling up a sandy beach.
You will stay at 2 lighthouses in the old keeper’s cottages.  Experience the solitude of these special settings, learn the unique history of the early keepers and enjoy the camaraderie of the group.

Day 1:  Approx 10am start in Canberra. Airport and city hotels pickups can be arranged. Be taken by road to the coast at Narooma.   In the afternoon there is a boat trip to Montague Island and a tour of the lighthouse (pictured). Overnight in Narooma.
Day 2:
Travel south to Eden.  Walk the first section of the 'Light to Light' walk in southern Ben Boyd National Park. Dramatic coastal scenery unfolds as one lighthouse disappears from view and the next one looms ahead. Overnight is split between Green Cape Lighthouse, pictured at top of page (half the group) and Wonboyn Lake Resort (half the group).
Day 3:  The day begins with a tour of Green Cape Lighthouse.  In the afternoon you will complete the remainder of the 'Light to Light' walk. Overnight is again split between Green Cape Lighthouse (half the group), and Wonboyn Lake Resort (half the group).
Day 4: Enjoy a scenic drive to the seaside village of Mallacoota in Victoria, followed by a morning walk highlighting the different habitats in the Mallacoota Inlet area. In the afternoon take an easy walk along the shores of the inlet where water birds abound.  Stay for 2 nights at Gipsy Point Lodge, a bird lovers’ paradise set on the banks of the Genoa River.
Day 5:  A morning climb up Genoa Peak for a great panoramic view.  Ladders assist on the last part of the climb.   Then have lunch at the delightful and secluded Genoa Falls.  The afternoon is free for you to relax and enjoy the special atmosphere of Gypsy Point Lodge.  Bird enthusiasts can join the guide on a bird watching walk or you can paddle a canoe on the river or just chill out.
Day 6:
Time to head south to Croajingolong National Park. The walk today is a major highlight as you cover more than 20 kilometres of the locally famous Wilderness Coast Walk.  your goal being the Point Hicks Lighthouse. A shorter walk option will also be offered. You will spend 2 nights in the lighthouse keepers cottages at Point Hicks - a fabulous position to watch the sun set and rise again bright and early the next morning.
Day 7:
Begin with a tour of the lighthouse followed by a day walk in the area.  You will stroll along a sandy beach, traverse the largest sand dunes in Victoria and visit a shipwreck site.  An easier walk option will also be offered.
Day 8: You are driven back to Canberra, arriving at around 4pm.
