Waterfall near Binna Burra LodgeExplore Lamington and Springbrook National Parks with a professional guide.  The parks are less than two hours drive south of Brisbane and aand peaks here reach over 1100m, the steep untracked southern escarpment forming a natural border with the state of NSW.  Massive strangler figs, ancient Antarctic beech, red cedar, rosewood and booyongs tower overhead whilst hundreds of different species of vines, ferns and orchids shelter beneath.  More than 160 species of subtropical birds will keep any bird lover engrossed.  With so much abundant native wildlife, this park offers a wealth of experiences.  Climb the huge strangler fig tower, marvel at the upper levels of the forest on the Tree Top Walk and visit secluded Moran Falls.  The highlight will be the walk right across the plateau along the scenic Lamington Traverse.

Day 1:  
Starts at the Gold Coast airport (Coolangatta) at 10am. Travel to O'Reillys in the Lamington National Park and enjoy a delightful walk on the Brush Box Circuit. Explore the top of the rainforest on the Tree Trops Walk and you can even climb the Fig Tree Tower. Accommodation: O'Reillys Rainforest Retreat
Tree-Walk at O'Reilly'sDay 2:  
Full day Lamington Traverse. Walk across the rainforest plateau on the Border Track to Binna Burra Lodge - at 25km it's a long way but the route is almost flat and the going is easy. The track emerges from the subtropical rainforest at several panoramic escarpment lookouts along the way. Accommodation: Binna Burra Lodge
Day 3:  
A full day circuit walk from Binna Burra on the Coomera Circuit. This is one of the prettiest walks in the park. It criss-crosses rainforest creeks for much of the day, passing many waterfalls. If you don’t want to go all the way you can go to Coomera Falls Lookout then retrace your route and enjoy some relaxation at the lodge. Accommodation: Binna Burra.
Day 4:  
Hike via Bellbird Lookout and Lower Ballanjui Falls down into the Numinbah Valley. The conical shaped Egg Rock is a feature today along with the beautiful Little Nerang River. This is the first section of new track that has been constructed to extend the Lamington walking into the valley and up to the Springbrook Plateau on the other side. Day 5:
From the Numinbah, head uphill onto the Springbrook Plateau. Highlights include hiking alongside the Little Nerang River past waterfall after waterfall. At Warringa Pool you can enjoy a refreshing dip in a rainforest swimming hole. And Purling Brook Falls will take your breath away! Accommodation: Springbrook Plateau
Day 6:  
A circuit walk this morning to Twin Falls is an impressive experience. Top it off with a visit to "Best of All Lookout" before travelling back to the Gold Coast to arrive around 2.00pm.

Lamington National Park Small Group Guided Walk - GENERAL NOTES

DEPARTURE DATES:  16 May 2010, 8 May 2011 

LOCATION:
  Starts/finishes in Gold Coast Airport, Collangatta

GRADING:
  The tracks at the Lamington end are generally easy to moderate and well graded. At Springbrook the steepness increases notably. Full day walks average 18-24km. There will be plenty of opportunities for fit walkers to challenge themselves on longer, harder walks and as always, easier options will be available too.

  Included meals are: 5 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners

Waterfall near O'Reilly's GUIDING: You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable and highly experienced guide. The guide's role is to lead you safely through the range of environments, provide information about the areas you are walking through and generally assist you to get the most out of your holiday. Group sizes vary – it is possible that you will be the only people on this trip but there may be others who have booked for the same date.

THE BEST TIME TO GO:
  This mountain environment is about 10 degrees cooler than Brisbane. April to September is ideal for walking, with mild sunny days.  From October it starts warming up and in January and February it may be humid.  In March it starts to cool down again.

A guided trip is for those who enjoy the camaraderie of a group, want to meet other like minded walkers or prefer to walk with a knowledgeable guide.  Come with a friend or come alone - either way you will soon make new friends.  The group sizes are always small - usually 2 - 14 people.  Participants can be of any nationality, any age, alone or accompanied.  Some are experienced walkers, some first timers.  People travelling alone will share a twin room with someone of the same sex, or else pay a single supplement for a private room.
