Getting about by AIR in Victoria

International and domestic flights operate from Melbourne Airport www.melair.com.au at Tullamarine, 22km northeast of central Melbourne.  Some flights also operate from Avalon Airport www.avalonairport.com.au near Geelong, located just off the Princes Freeway, 55km southwest of Melbourne.
Domestic airlines that operate into and out of Victoria are Qantas www.qantas.com.au,Virgin Blue www.virginblue.com.au, Jetstar www.jetstar.com.au, and Rex (Regional Express) www.rex.com.au.  The Asian carrier Tiger Airways www.tigerairways.com has recently established a hub in Melbourne and is expanding its network within Australia.

Getting about by TRAIN or COACH (Bus) in Victoria

Train and bus services within country Victoria are operated by V/Line www.vline.com.au.  Long distance trains and buses to and from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station www.vline.com.au/maps/stations/southerncross (previously known as Spencer Street Station).   Flinders Street Station in Melbourne is the main station for suburban train services. Countrylink www.countrylink.nsw.gov.au has a twice daily train service between Sydney and Melbourne.
Private bus companies that service routes to/from Victoria include Greyhound Australia www.greyhound.com.au, Premier Motor Services www.premierms.com.au and Firefly www.fireflyexpress.com.au

Getting about by CAR FERRY in Victoria

Spirit of Tasmania Car Ferries www.spiritoftasmania.com.au operate daily between Melbourne and Devonport on the north coast of Tasmania. The Ferry Terminal in Melbourne is at Station Pier in Port Melbourne, 4km from Melbourne city.

Getting about by RENTAL VEHICLE in Victoria

The leading vehicle hire firms are … Europcar www.deltaeuropcar.com.au Budget, Avis, Thrifty, Hertz and Red Spot.  For motorhomes and campervans the main suppliers are Apollo, Britz and Maui.
Please note that Victoria has border restrictions preventing fruit being transported into and out of the state in an attempt to prevent the spread of fruit fly.

Toll Roads
