1. HOBART and NEARBY. Hobart is the state capital, a maritime city set on the River Derwent at the foot of Mt Wellington in the south of the island. Hobart is close to the Tasman Peninsula and the historic remains of Port Arthur penal settlement 
2. WESTERN WORLD HERITAGE AREA.  Cradle Mountain and the Overland Track, Mt Ossa, the Franklin and Gordon Rivers, Strahan and Queenstown are part of a stunningly scenic region
3. LAUNCESTON and the NORTH.  Picturesque Launceston is little more than 2 hours drive north of Hobart and a gateway to a great touring area including the Tamar Valley wine region and the unspoiled north east
4. EAST COAST TASMANIA.  Another scenically stunning region of Tasmania, the centrepiece being Freycinet National Park and dazzling Wineglass Bay
