Kangaroo Island is accessed by Sealink ferry
from Cape Jervis, a 120 km drive south west of Adelaide, on the end of
the Fleurieu Peninsula. The passenger and vehicle ferries run to
Penneshaw on the island (about a 40 minute crossing). There are also
domestic flights from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island and vehicles can be
hired on the island. The main towns on the island are Kingscote, American River, Parndana and
Penneshaw. |

The Fleurieu Peninsula is just over an hour's
drive from central Adelaide. It is a predominately an unspoiled
rural area with a highly attractive coastline. Cape Jervis on its
tip is the departure point for the ferries to Kangaroo Island and Goolwa,
where the River Murray finally reaches the sea, is on the peninsula's
eastern edge.
