Self Drive Itinerary: 'Western Explorer' Hobart to Launceston

Day 1 
Collect your rental vehicle in Hobart spend the rest of the day here at leisure.
Overnight:  
Lenna of Hobart

Day 2 
Today enjoy a scenic drive to Strahan. A short detour en route into the Mt Field National Park and Russell Falls is well worthwhile.
Overnight:

Day 3 
Leave Strahan and drive to Cradle Mountain.
Overnight: 
Cradle Mountain Lodge (Pencil Pine Cabin - includes breakfast)

Day 4
Remain at Cradle Mountain today to explore the area.  Covering some of Tasmania's highest country, the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, with its many lakes and mountain peaks, is famous for its magnificent alpine scenery.
Overnight: 
Cradle Mountain Lodge (Pencil Pine Cabin - includes breakfast)

Day 5
Depart Cradle Mountain and drive to Launceston where you drop off your hire car.

  • Car hire - 5 days Hertz Group C rental vehicle (automatic 4 door sedan, 1.8 litre Toyota Camry or similar) including unlimited mileage and airport vehicle collection fees
