Day 1
Collect your rental vehicle in Sydney and drive to
the Blue Mountains, named for their distinctive blue haze which results
from eucalyptus oil
evaporating from millions of gum (eucalyptus) trees. The mountains
are a natural wonderland of untamed bush, spectacular rock formations
and native wildlife.

Day 2
Leave your accommodation in the Blue Mountains and drive to the Hunter
Valley. Rather than driving towards outer Sydney to join the busy
Pacific Highway, a quieter and more scenic route is to head
towards the historic river town of Windsor and then travel along
the Putty Road to enter the Hunter Valley at the
hamlet of Broke.

Day 3
Today drive from the Hunter Valley to Port Stephens, a natural bay two and a half times
the size of Sydney Harbour and almost enclosed by two dormant volcanic
headlands. Native bush land, sheltered white beaches and small fishing
villages edge the sparkling blue water. Bottlenose dolphins frequent the
bay.

Day 4
Drive from Port Stephens to Sydney.
Overnight:

Drop off your hire car in Sydney. You can add extra nights at your
hotel in Sydney if you want to stay longer. |
