CLIMATE in Australia

The weather in Australia is generally pleasant without extremes in temperatures. There are 2 broad climatic zones – about 40% of the country is north of the Tropic of Capricorn and is in the tropical zone; the remaining areas lie in the temperate zone. However due to Australia’s vast size there are variations within these broad zones. The tropical zone has 2 seasons, summer ‘wet’ (Nov – Apr) and winter ‘dry’. The temperate zone has 4 seasons – Spring (Sep-Nov), Summer (Dec-Feb), Autumn (Mar-May), Winter (Jun-Aug); these seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere.
