|
True North Coral Atoll Cruise (6 nights) |
|
Departing from and returning to Broome (See Departure
Dates)
The Coral Atoll Cruise allows you to dive pristine coral atolls and experience the rugged Kimberley
coastline. Just over 180 nautical miles west of
Broome, through some of the world's richest game fishing waters, lie the
three atolls of Mermaid Reef, Clerke Reef and Imperious Reef, which make
up the Rowley Shoals. They are perched on the edge of Australia's
continental shelf at one of its widest and deepest points and are near perfect examples of atoll
geomorphology. They are a diver's paradise and the opportunity for
cave
and night dives adds an extraordinary dimension to an already surreal
coral scape. The Shoals are home to over 600 species of fish, with two thirds of
Australia's tropical species being found here, and Maori wrasse, barracuda,
coral trout, angelfish, morays and turtles are in abundance. Rowley Shoals are among the few reefs in the world affected by a high
tidal range. The dramatic five metre tides pouring massive volumes in
and out of the coral framework have created unearthly and enchanting
coral scapes.
