Perth to Pilbara - Introduction
The north west offers stunning scenery, outback desert, gorges and crystal clear waters.  
Heading north up the coast from Perth you will come to the Pinnacles, near Cervantes, where thousands of pillars up to 4 metres high rise out of the stark desert landscape.  
Then, north of Geraldton, you have Kalbarri National Park with its spectacular red gorges winding all the way down to the ocean, a great place for a hike and a dip.
Next stop is the World Heritage listed Shark Bay, where the dolphins come to feed each day at Monkey Mia. 
To the north of Shark Bay is Carnarvon, followed by Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Reef and then Exmouth.
Ningaloo Reef, the other great Australian coral reef,  is  260 km long and virtually untouched,  protecting a stretch of shallow waters along the coastline.  Here you can snorkel or dive with the manta rays or magnificent whale sharks which come here to breed between March and June every year.
Continuing northwards up the coast from Exmouth, you will come to Karatha and then Port Hedland, and inland  is one of the oldest parts of the world, the remote and beautiful Pilbara region. Finally you arrive in Broome.  Click here for Broome accommodation.
