Wildlife at Kewarra Beach Resort ...
The Resort is home to a large variety of wildlife, reflecting the wide range of habitats found around the grounds.
Agile wallabies, bandicoots, native white tailed rats and several reptiles including non venomous green tree snakes, lace monitors (lizards), geckos and skinks.  Green tree frogs are common in the wetter months and the lagoon has a large variety of fish and crabs.

To date, approximately 170 species if birds have been identified. Some of these are rare, one off sightings while others are seasonal visitors like the large white pied imperial pigeons which visit the area over the summer months to breed, returning to Papua New Guinea in the winter. Then there are year round residents like the tiny sunbirds, noisy helmeted friarbirds, sulphur crested cockatoos and the colourful double eyed fig parrots and rainbow lorikeets.

In addition to the bird species, a large variety of butterflies can be seen around the Resort. In recent years a number of host and food plants have been planted to attract different species.  Australia’s two most spectacular butterflies can be seen around the Resort at certain times of the year, the ulysses or mountain blue and the rarer Cairns birdwing.
