Hayman
Island is the most northerly island in the Whitsunday group and
is renowned for its elegance, service and its location close to
the Great Barrier Reef. It is a 5-star resort and it is the only
Australian island to be accepted as a member of the prestigious
organisation, The Leading Hotels of the World.
Hayman is 400
hectares in area and 8 kms in circumference and its tallest peak
stands 250 metres above sea level. Other islands are accessible
by boat or yacht. There are many bush walks through the rugged
natural landscape taking you to idyllic, deserted beaches.
Hayman's guest rooms, suites and
penthouses are beautifully appointed with services and facilities as befitting a deluxe resort and have private terraces or balconies
offering breathtaking views.

| Getting to Hayman Island .. |
| The
island is accessed by means of plane to Hamilton Island and then by
launch. Note: if arranging your own flights, the return launch
transfer between Hamilton and Hayman should be booked as part of the air
ticket to the destination 'HIS' (destination code for Hayman). Hayman Island is within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and has a
magnificent range of flora, fauna and marine life. Beyond the beach lies
a coral reef, 800 metres wide, which fronts the southern half of the
island. The reef becomes exposed at low tide and is covered by up to 4
metres of water at high tide. The island has lush, tropical growth,
white sandy beaches and is surrounded by coral reefs and warm waters.

| About Hayman Island Resort .. |
The resort is situated around a
crescent shaped, white, sandy bay on the south western side and it is
the only facility on the island. Throughout the resort there are
beautiful gardens with shady
ponds and waterfalls. In summer the weather is warm and sultry, with January
traditionally being the warmest month. You may need a light jacket or
sweater for the evenings in winter, especially in July which is
usually the coolest month.
No part of the resort is taller than four stories and most guest rooms,
restaurants and other public areas are situated in two wings. At night, your private balcony
can become the
setting for an intimate candlelight dinner or you can enjoy superb service, fine
food and music in Hayman's restaurants.
By day the mood is casual and beachwear is
welcomed at The Beach Pavilion and by the pools. Hayman's evening
restaurants invite smart, casual dress. A jacket is required for
gentlemen in La Fontaine. Hayman offers diverse meeting facilities, a
chapel for weddings or the reaffirmation of vows and christenings, a
health retreat, beauty salon and children's activities centre. The
Marine Centre operates Reef cruises, fishing, a PADI-accredited Dive
Centre, helicopter and seaplane flights.
Whale Watching: guests can head out to the surrounding waters to
get up close and personal on whale watching adventures as these
magnificent creatures shelter in the Whitsundays during their annual
migration, which normally occurs from July to September.
