Aerial view of Dunk IslandDunk Island is located approximately 4 km off the North Queensland coast at Mission Beach, midway between Townsville and Cairns.  It is about 6 kms long and 2 kms wide covering an area of about 1000 hectares and is part of the Family Group of Islands.  
Dunk has a tropical climate with an average year round temperature of around 29 degrees C (85 degrees F).  It was known to the first inhabitants as 'Coonanglebah' , the Island of Peace and Plenty, and continues to be a beautiful rainforest island, most of it National Park.  Home to over 90 recorded species of exotic birds, Dunk is also renowned for its collection of butterflies including the brilliant blue Papillon Ulysses.    Dunk Island Prices
  
Getting to Dunk Island ...
Access is by launch from Mission beach or a direct flight from Cairns.   Alternatively Dunk can be reached from Cairns by coach/launch combination transfer costing from A$140.00 per person return

The resort's main restaurant specialises in fresh tropical style cuisine. A buffet breakfast is served from 7.00 am to 10.00 am. and 3 course table d'hote or themed buffet dinner from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Between 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm there is a 3 course table d'hote dinner with a daily changing menu each evening, including a children's menu.  On Friday night there is a seafood buffet with a carvery section and there is a carvery buffet each Tuesday night. 

Plantation Bar and Deck
Overlooking the beachfront pool, it's the perfect place to soak up the rich, tropical ambience of Dunk.  Offering a modern Australian brasserie style menu featuring a selection of gourmet sandwiches, salads, pastas, Asian dishes, cakes, ice creams, milkshakes, smoothies, coffees and fresh juices. Open daily for drinks from 11.00 am to midnight with nightly entertainment.

Cascade Pool Bar
Open daily from 11.00 am to 4.30 pm.

Jetty Café
An upmarket café, serving lunches daily, which features fresh seafood cuisine.

The Terrace
Situated below Cascades Pool, this restaurant offers traditional Italian cuisine from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. (Seasonal)
 
Picnic Lunches
There is a daily choice of 2 different picnic lunch menus. (Extra charge)

Set amongst tropical gardens these rooms are a short stroll from the central complex, resort facilities and beach. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Garden Rooms have a queen bed, en suite with shower and a small outdoor patio or balcony. Family configurations are available.
 
Beachfront Rooms
Situated with easy access to the beach through a tropical garden, guests can enjoy views over Brammo Bay from most rooms. 

Upstairs rooms have balconies and downstairs rooms have a patio and lead onto the gardens and the beach. Rooms are comfortable with modern decor and timber furniture on a split level layout. Rooms have a separated living and sleeping area and en suite facilities with combined bath and shower. 

All rooms feature one king and one single bed, or family configurations are available with two queen beds and one single bed. Additional in-room amenities include bathrobes and fully stocked mini bar. Interconnecting rooms are available.

 Beachfront Suites
The rooms offer virtually uninterrupted views over Brammo Bay with direct access to the beach.

Set in small groups of four units (two units upstairs, two downstairs), Beachfront Suites are bright and spacious with a king bed and a luxurious bathroom with a twin vanity. The interior is split level with the upper level featuring the sleeping area and a comfortable living area on the lower level. 

The Beachfront Suite rooms have a relaxed coastal feel with double glass doors leading onto a large balcony. Additional in-room amenities include CD player, bathrobes and fully stocked mini bar. Interconnecting rooms are available.
