Day 1 Travelling north from Brisbane, pass the Glass House Mountains and Sunshine Coast before arriving at Rainbow Beach. From Rainbow Beach take the 4WD on to the beach to meet your ferry at Inskip Point. A short ferry ride will take you to the southern tip of Fraser Island. Head for Seventy Five Mile Beach and find yourself a nice spot to enjoy a fresh picnic lunch. Travelling north up the eastern beach of Fraser Island we head for Eli Creek. Eli Creek is a fast flowing fresh water stream. Take the beautiful board walk to the top of the creek and let yourself relax and float down this picturesque stream. Your next stop is Lake Wabby. The 4WD is parked at the start of the 20 min walking track, which takes you through lush coastal heath and thick eucalypt forest. Arrive at the deepest lake on Fraser Island, the locally famous Lake Wabby. The return walk goes through the Hammerstone Sandblow. At the end of the day travel to Eurong Beach Resort to check into your accommodation and enjoy a Buffet Dinner in the Resort Restaurant. Accommodation is in a 4 share dormitory and is backpacker style accommodation. Upgrades to twin/double or single rooms are available as listed below. Overnight: Eurong Beach Resort Day 2 With an early start for a continental breakfast at 7 am, check out of your accommodation and get out on tour by 8am. Head to Central Station today to visit Fraser island's lush subtropical rainforests. Take a stimulating 1 hour walk along the clear flowing waters of Wanggoolba Creek and learn about Fraser Island's Timber History. Continue on to Lake Birrabeen, one of Fraser Island's beautiful crystal clear lakes. There is plenty of time here to swim, relax, sunbathe and enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch, head through the forest roads back to the Southern end of Fraser Island. Mid afternoon your depart Rainbow Beach back to Brisbane, with the tour finishing around 6.00pm. What to bring: Towel, Camera, Sunscreen, Hat, Swimming gear, Insect repellent, walking shoes, warm clothes (winter), torch, sense of humour! |
