ITINERARY: Perth to Perth ('Best of South West WA')

Day 1: Arrive Perth
On arrival in Perth you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a city tour of Perth including Kings Park from where you can see the broad expanse of the Swan River. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

Day 2: Perth – Margaret River 
This morning travel to the Forest Heritage Centre, deep in the jarrah forest of Dwellingup. Travel south through Busselton, a popular holiday resort on the shores of Geographe Bay with the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. 
Visit the Margaret River Caves and explore awe-inspiring Mammoth Cave, home to ancient fossil remains of extinct animals. Continue to Margaret River, one of Australia's premier wine growing regions.

Day 3
: Margaret River area
Taling a walk along a beach in Hamelin Bay © Tourism WA This morning enjoy a scenic journey through the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and see Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. Later, enjoy a tour, tastings and delicious lunch at Palandri Winery. 
This afternoon there is time to explore Margaret River including the ever-popular Margaret River Chocolate Factory. (BL)

Day 4: Margaret River - Albany

View the enormous Gloucester Tree, the highest fire lookout tree in the world. Journey through the spectacular Valley of the Giants with its huge Tingle and Karri trees. Enjoy a walk along the Tree Top Walk exploring the canopy of the magnificent tingle forest. Continue to Torndirrup National Park, home to the Natural Bridge and The Gap, then visit the Whaleworld Museum for a fascinating insight into the region's seafaring past.

Day 5
: Albany - Esperance 
Visit the Anzac Memorial and enjoy the panoramic views. Travel to Bluff Knoll Lookout to witness the rugged beauty of the Stirling Ranges. Continue to Esperance and see the Pink Lake.

Travel into Cape Le Grand National Park for coastal views. Continue through Norseman to the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie. Stop at the Golden Superpit Lookout for an amazing view of Australia's largest open cut gold mine. An orientation tour of this historic gold mining town will reveal unique turn of the century buildings including the famous Exchange Hotel and Hay Street.

Day 7: Kalgoorlie
Spend this morning at the Mining Hall of Fame. Try panning for gold, witness gold bullion being poured and go underground for a tour of the Mining Reserve. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service for an insight into the work of this great Australian icon. There is the opportunity this afternoon to explore this gold town at leisure. You may like to visit the Museum of the Goldfields and ride the lift to the mine headframe viewing platform for sweeping views of the city. (B)

Travel to the ghost town of Coolgardie. Admire Wave Rock, a spectacular rock formation resembling a gigantic wave. 
Continue to York, Western Australia's most historic inland town, then on to Fremantle.

Day 9: Fremantle – Perth
Explore the Fremantle markets or visit the busy traditional fishing boat harbour. Discover the heritage of Fremantle. Enjoy a walking tour of Fremantle's major landmarks including The Round House. Learn how the Swan River is part of the Dreaming trail of the area. This afternoon cruise along the Swan River to Perth. Enjoy complimentary wine tasting whilst the Captain points out the sights. Arrive in Perth this afternoon at approximately 5.00pm. You will be transferred to Perth Airport to connect with your onward flight (flights to depart after 7.00pm). (B)

WEATHER
Perth - with its Mediterranean climate is the perfect sunny Australian capital city, averaging eight hours of sunshine a day, year round. It has four seasons, with average temperatures of around 30º Celsius in summer and around 18º Celsius in winter. January to March are usually the hottest months, with temperatures sometimes rising to 40º Celsius at this time. However, the heat is dry and the 'Fremantle Doctor' - a refreshing south westerly ocean breeze - can be relied upon to bring mid-afternoon relief.
