ITINERARY: Uluru to Darwin ('Northern Territory Panorama')

Fly to Ayers Rock Airport (flights to arrive prior to 1.30pm). On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This evening meet your Tour Director and enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over Uluru.
Accommodation: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort, 2 nights.

Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Kata Tjuta (Olgas) 
You may wish to join an early tour to view sunrise over Uluru (no extra charge – ask your Tour Director for details). 

Enjoy a guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole and stop at the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Visit Kata Tjuta (pictured below) and walk into Walpa Gorge. Enjoy sunset with a glass of sparkling wine followed by a barbecue dinner under the stars. (BD)

Day 3: Kings Canyon
Travel to Kings Canyon today. For the energetic, a guided climb to the Canyon rim will be rewarded with views of Watarrka National Park. Accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort, Kings Canyon. (BD

Leaving Watarrka National Park behind, travel through to Alice Springs. See the sights of Alice Springs including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of the Air and the Telegraph Station. Stop for panoramic views from Anzac Hill. Accommodation: Alice Springs Resort, 2 nights. (BD
 
Day 5
: Aboriginal Culture
This morning spend time with a local Aboriginal guide on an Aboriginal Cultural Tour. In the afternoon travel to Angkerle (Standley Chasm), surrounded by masses of vegetation including cycads, ferns and river gums and Simpsons Gap with its lovely river red-gum scenery. (B)

Travelling north you arrive at mysterious Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles), pictured at the top of this page. There is time to walk around these precariously balanced boulders. On arrival in Tennant Creek join a local guide for a tour of the historic Battery Hill Precinct. Tour an underground mine and experience the life of an early miner. Tonight enjoy a barbecue dinner at the Battery Mine Centre.

 Day 7: Mataranka Thermal Springs – Katherine
Daly Waters Pub © Tourism Northern Territory Travel across vast outback stations. Visit the pioneering Daly Waters Hotel (pictured) before continuing on to Mataranka, 'Land of the Never Never'. On arrival at Mataranka Homestead you can take time to visit the replica of the original Elsey Homestead, used in the filming of 'We of the Never Never'. Alternatively, you may take the beautiful palm lined walkway for a swim in the famous Mataranka thermal springs. Travel on to Katherine, the third largest town in the Northern Territory.

Cruising on Katherine Gorge, Nitmiluk National Park © Tourism Northern Territory Day 8: Katherine Gorge – Kakadu 
Join a local guide on an early morning cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. You have the opportunity to see wildlife and prolific bird life. Join a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong with luck we may see the feared estuarine croodile.

Day 9
: Kakadu National Park - Darwin
We stop at the Bowali Visitor Centre.Travel to Ubirr and view Aboriginal rock art dating back some 20,000 years. A climb to the top of Ubirr is rewarded with superb views of the surrounding wetlands. Later we travel to Darwin and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the tropical city including Parliament House, Fannie Bay Gaol and the Botanic Gardens.

Florence Falls, Litchfield National Park © Tourism Northern Territory Day 10: Litchfield National Park
This morning travel to Litchfield National Park.  Your first stop is the amazing stand of Termite Mounds, architectural feats complete with arches, tunnels and nursery chambers. Then travel to view beautiful Florence Falls (pictured) from a high vantage point before visiting Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the steep waterhole below. Venture on to tropical Wangi Falls for a relaxing swim in the large crystal clear pool. A great day for taking many interesting photos! Return to Darwin in the afternoon. Dine out this evening at Darwin's newest attraction, Crocosaurus Cove, including dinner. Get up close and personal with a 'swim with the crocs' and watch the jumping croc display.  (BD

Day 11: Depart Darwin 
Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight (for flights at any time) or continue with your own arrangements. (B
