Brief Details of Melbourne Day Trips and Excursions 

Colonial Tramcar Dinner
Colonial Tramcar Restaurant © Tourism Victoria Departs from tram stop No 125 Normanby Road near the corner of Clarendon Street, adjacent to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and Crown Casino complex.   (Child is 0 - 16 years; there is normally a 10% reduction for children).
Enjoy dinner aboard a working tramcar restaurant.  The tram travels at a leisurely pace along Melbourne's grand leafy boulevards and is a delightful and novel way to experience the sights and tastes of Melbourne.  There is a 3 course early dinner each day  between 5.45 pm and 7.15 pm and a 5 course late dinner from 8.35 pm to 11.30 pm, plus a 4 course luncheon between 1 pm and 3 pm daily (times may vary on the luncheon schedule).
 
Welcome to Melbourne - Coach Tour
Departs:  8.40 am daily      Returns:  12.00 pm   (Child is 3 - 14 years)
Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne © Tourism Victoria You will be collected from your hotel for your morning tour of Melbourne.  Sights include  the main shopping areas of Bourke Street Mall and tree lined Collins Street, St Paul's Cathedral, the Princess and Regent Theatres, Town Hall and the Royal Exhibition  Buildings (pictured).  Visit the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens where there is the opportunity for morning tea if you wish (own expense) and a walk by the lake.  In Fitzroy Gardens, visit Captain Cook's cottage and in Treasury Gardens, see the Shrine of Remembrance,  penetrated by a shaft of sunlight at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. plus the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Melbourne Park (home of the Australian Tennis Open).  Cross the spectacular Westgate Bridge with wonderful views of the city and see St Kilda and Albert Park.  At the completion of the tour, make your own way back to your hotel.
 

Welcome plus Yarra River Cruise

This tour operates exactly as Welcome to Melbourne above, with the addition of a scenic one hour Yarra River Cruise, ending at 
1.00 pm.   (Child is 3 - 14 years)
 
Ballarat and Sovereign Hill - Coach Tour

Ballarat has gracious,  wide streets and in the 19th century it was a goldrush town where people from all over the world came to try their luck at finding gold.  It still produces gold today.  Sovereign Hill is a theme park which recreates the 19th century goldfields and makes a great family day out.

Puffing Billy, Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley and Healesville Sanctuary - Coach tour

Departs Melbourne at 8.30 am daily.    Returns at 5.30 pm.     (Child is 3 - 14 years)
A full day visiting some beautiful countryside near Melbourne. Ride the restored Puffing Billy steam train for a memorable journey on Australia’s most notable narrow gauge railway which winds through the Dandenong Ranges..  Tour the Yarra Valley’s beautiful rolling hills and prosperous vineyards and relax as you sample superb regional wines and take in the stunning views of the vineyard. Enjoy lunch in the Yarra Valley.   Later, wander among Australia’s unique birds and animals in the natural bushland setting of Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary, Australia’s premier wildlife and nature sanctuary and home to over 200 species of Australian birds, mammals and reptiles  - get up close to koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, cockatoos, parrots and much more.
 

Great Ocean Road - Coach Tour

Departs Melbourne at 8.15 am daily.    Returns at 8 pm.     (Child is 3 - 14 years)

There are views of Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay from the West Gate Bridge en route to Geelong. Continue via the renowned surfing mecca of Bells Beach and the coastal towns of Apollo Bay and Lorne as you tour the length of the Great Ocean Road.  Highlights include Loch Ard Gorge, Port Campbell, the remnants of London Bridge, Elephant Rock (pictured), Razorback and Island Arch.  There are many stunning photographic opportunities throughout the day.
